Internal Communications Manager

About the client
My client is a revered global producer and distributor of hydrogen-based products providing low carbon fertilizers, fuels, and feedstock to agricultural, transportation, and industrial customers around the world. Their production capacity spans four continents and they have almost 4,000 employees. My client is headquartered in the Netherlands and listed on Euronext in Amsterdam.

An exciting new phase
My client is embarking on an exciting new phase for their business. In 2020, they took a new strategic direction. Using their core products, ammonia and methanol, they are evolving their existing business beyond creating traditional fertilizers and feedstocks to creating more sustainable blue and green hydrogen-based products, which will help to decarbonize industry, transport, and food production.

In the accelerated global shift to clean energy, hydrogen will play a vital role. Ammonia and methanol are the most effective carriers of hydrogen. As hydrogen carriers and as a direct fuel, ammonia and methanol can decarbonize approximately 90% of today`s greenhouse gas emissions across their end markets of agriculture, fuel, and feedstock, in addition to new markets such as power and marine fuels.

About this role
To support their ambitious new strategy, their team is growing and they are looking to attract the best new talent from across their industry. They are also in the process of refining their approach in several areas. They are transitioning to SAP software, which will have a significant impact on numerous roles across the business. They also professionalizing their approach to communications and HR. Engaging their employees in these three areas of development will form the basis of this role. Specific focus projects in the first year include:

Change management communications around the transition to SAP
Supporting the launch, roll-out and supporting action for their first ever global employee engagement survey
Engaging employees in the launch and roll-out of their refreshed corporate brand

Together with the Head of Corporate Communications, this role will develop their strategy for Internal Communications, build and refine their channels and deliver on a progressive plan that will set the benchmark for their internal communications in the future. It is an exciting challenge and they are looking for an experienced communications professional with a creative approach and the knowledge gained from large and complex organizations to meet it.

Who are they looking for?
An experienced internal communications professional, who has led strategy and delivered change management communications in a large, complex organization.

Change management
Specific change management experience: ideally managing communication around tech implementation or other modernization initiatives that significantly impact multiple job roles
Experience working with HR and leadership to craft messages and create an integrated communications plan that creates an effective feedback loop
Ability to evaluate the impact of change communications and provide feedback in a timely manner to support the transition project as a whole

General
Communications experience: 8+ years of communications experience, including global/matrix organization strategy development
Stakeholder management and influence: experience building relationships and working with a variety of stakeholders, including senior leadership
Strategic thinking: you`ll be a strategic thinker, who uses feedback and data to inform improvements
Content creation: significant experience of content creation and copywriting. You should be able to develop content of a high standard yourself and have experience of briefing others where needed
Positive attitude: positive and can-do, ambitious in your desire to get things done to a high standard and to drive positive impact. The ability to motivate the organization and get buy-in from stakeholders

Day-to-day responsibilities

Deliver company-wide internal comms activity, taking responsibility for areas as designated by the Head of Corporate Communications
Operationalize communications functions by building a programmatic framework that includes content calendars, content guidelines, channel strategy (intranet, social channels, company emails, town halls etc)
Working with our local teams to ensure internal communications are aligned with local culture and ways of working for maximum impact
Using audience insight and data to proactively feed into the development and evaluation of our internal comms and engagement strategy and drive improvements accordingly
